Do male genital warts hurt?

Genital warts are small and soft lumps in or around the genitals. They result in when the human papillomavirus (HPV) contracts in the human body. However, they contain a low-risk rank of HPV. It is an STI and can transit from one person to other another through sexual contact. Male genital warts are as common as female genital warts. However, women are more prone to complications. These warts can be painful, itchy, and prickly. They are curable. Nevertheless, it is important to treat the infection. It is because warts can reappear if the infection remains untreated. 

How do genital warts symptomize? 

The genital warts aren’t always visible. They may sometimes go unnoticed because they feel mild when you touch them. However, they may sometimes feel lumpy. People may have a single or a group of bumps. Women can have genital warts in the following parts of the body-

  • In or around the vagina
  • In or around the anus
  • On the cervix

Male genital warts may appear on-

  • Groin
  • Penis
  • In or around the anus
  • Scrotum
  • Thighs

HPV can also transmit through anal and oral sex. People, who engage in oral sex, can have warts in or around the areas like-

  • Throat
  • Mouth
  • Lips
  • Tongue

As discussed above, the genital warts are not always visible. However, people can experience certain signs and symptoms like-

  • Bleeding
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Scorching sensation
  • Itching
