Intrauterine devices (IUD), How effective are coil contraception?

Intrauterine devices (IUD) and intrauterine system (IUS) are the types of coil contraception used for avoiding pregnancy. They are tiny devices that are fixed in the uterus of a woman. IUD works for 5-10 years. On the other hand, IUS remain active for 3-5 years. Your doctor or a nurse can fix it during your period cycle. However, you can ask your doctor to remove it anytime you want. It is significant to know that the insertion of the coils is possible only when you are not pregnant. Although, they work in a similar way; they secrete different things to prevent pregnancy.

IUD is a little and T-shaped device. Doctors fix it in the women’s uterus. Copper coil is another name of IUD. This contraception works by secreting copper to prevent pregnancy.   • Uneasiness

Intrauterine system (IUS)

IUS is a tiny and soft device that is put inside the women’s uterus. This coil contraception works by secreting progesterone to prevent pregnancy. Intrauterine system can last for 5 years. A well-trained nurse or doctor may place it anytime during your menstrual cycle until you are not pregnant. Like IUD, IUS can also result in causing certain side effects. They are as follows-
