What is it? Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid plays a key role in helping to maintain good health and immunity. It forms a vital component in the formation of collagen in our bodies and therefore is essential for the growth and repair of blood vessels, bones, teeth and gums. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant, hence prevents the build up of excess oxygen in our blood vessels. Vitamin C can also help to decrease the frequency of colds and viral infections such as the flu, by giving our immunity a boost. We are unable to store this vitamin in our bodies therefore require small amounts of it daily, when in a stressful condition the amount required is more.
